Editorial Policy

This page explains how LKDreams researches, writes, checks and updates its articles and recipes. We publish information about food and health, so we hold ourselves to a high standard of accuracy and honesty. If you think we’ve got something wrong, please tell us.

Who writes our content

Articles are published under the LKDreams Editorial Team byline. Our content is researched and drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then checked and edited against the standards on this page before it’s published. LKDreams is run by its founder, Prasad Dwarnakulasuriya. We don’t claim medical or dietetic qualifications, and our articles aren’t individually reviewed by a doctor or registered dietitian. That’s why we rely on trusted sources and link to them.

The sources we use

We base health and nutrition information on the most reliable sources we can find, in roughly this order:

  1. Public health bodies and official guidance, such as the NHS, the World Health Organization, the European Food Safety Authority, the US Food and Drug Administration, the US National Institutes of Health and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  2. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses, which combine the results of many studies, including Cochrane reviews.
  3. Randomized controlled trials and large long-term studies, checked on PubMed or the publisher’s site.
  4. Professional and expert bodies, such as national dietetic and medical associations and international clinical guidelines.

We don’t use social media posts, product marketing or unsourced websites as evidence.

How we describe evidence

  • We link to sources in the text, next to the claim they support, so you can read them yourself.
  • We say how strong the evidence is. An observational study shows a link, not proof of cause; a small or short trial is a starting point, not a final answer. We say so.
  • We report numbers accurately, including how many people were studied where it matters.
  • We don’t make treatment claims for foods or diets, and we don’t publish content that presents food as a cure for disease, detox and cleanse plans, or miracle foods.

Nutrition figures

Nutrition information for our recipes and food guides is calculated from USDA FoodData Central, using the weights of the ingredients in the recipe. These figures are estimates. They’ll change with the brands, sizes and amounts you use, and they don’t include optional toppings unless we say so.

Safety notes

Some topics need extra care. Every article ends with a reminder that it’s general information, not medical advice. Keto and very low-carb articles include a safety note about who should talk to a doctor first, including people with diabetes, kidney or liver disease, people who take regular medication, and anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Articles that touch on mental health include a link to helplines.

Recipes and food safety

Our recipes give cooking temperatures and storage advice based on food safety guidance from bodies such as the NHS, the UK government and the US Department of Agriculture. Where a food carries extra risk for some people, such as raw fish, runny eggs or soft cheese in pregnancy, we say so.

Corrections and updates

We review articles when guidance changes, when new evidence is published, and when readers report a problem. If you spot a mistake, please use our contact form and include the page link and a short note about what needs fixing. We check every report and correct errors as quickly as we can.

Independence and advertising

LKDreams is funded by advertising, which may include ads served by Google. Advertisers have no say in what we write, which foods or products we mention, or what we recommend. Ads are shown separately from our content.

Photos on LKDreams are used under the license of their source, such as the Unsplash License. Photos illustrate the topic of an article and aren’t always the exact dish or product described.
